Jerry Kanabel

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. I discovered my desire for Art while attending Oak Park High School. I owe so much to my Art Teacher, Jean Lawing. She had so much faith in my abilities. I participated in the Annual Art Shows all 3 years, winning several ribbons. My senior year I was selected as Art Assistant to the Instructors and was voted Art Club President. During the annual award show for the entire school, my junior year I won in the Art Department category, the “Bronze Award” and my senior year winning the “Gold Palette Award.”

My graduating class commissioned the three top artists, Debbie Collins, Tim Higgins and myself, to paint two murals to be placed above the main theatre doors for many years to come as our senior class gift to the school.

I went on to study fine art and graphic design, by taking classes at the Kansas City Art Institute, Maplewoods Community College and Penn Valley Community College. While participating in several Art Fairs thought the community.

In 1984, I was offered a position to work for my all time favorite music entertainer, Jeannie C. Riley. Best known for her multi-million selling, grammy winning song, “Harper Valley P.T.A.” So I packed my bags and moved to Music City, Nashville, Tennessee. To this day, I still maintain her website and have designed several CD and DVD covers. Along with many promotional projects over the years.

After returning to Kansas City, Missouri, I contacted one of the top Advertising Agencies at that time, and was hired as production artist with Kuhn & Wittenborn Advertising. There I gained so much knowledge of graphic design. I was employed with the agency for 5 years.

In 1994, I began working for an educational publishing company, that produces magazines and various educational materials. I have served as Art Director for Career Communications, Inc. for now 17 years. Handling all aspects of design, from publications, online publications, websites, promotional materials, etc.

My free time, I enjoy doing illustrations, painting and design projects. Also some photography that I manipulate into photo art.

I am now offering my design services for anyone looking for affordable graphic design work. While you explore my website, you will see various projects I have designed over the years. I would love to help you out on any new projects you have coming up. Contact me and I will be glad to discuss the possibilities.

Hope to hear from you.

During my college years I could not do enough art work. Even when I was not in class I was home doing illustrations.
